Then it was into the bar to warm up before the Mummers play.

This year's script, based on a more traditional text, was written and produced by Maggie.

The CD player refused to work in the sub-zero temperatures but the cast didn't and their spirited performance had the audience booing and cheering while the fight between good and evil, not to mention a scimitar and a chainsaw, was enacted as tradition demands.


Squire had received a phone call confirming that Dame Vera Lynn would once again be making a personal appearance at our festivities and we were not disappointed as she led the singalong to "The White Cliffs of Dover" and "Whale Meat Again".

To round off the afternoon we were honoured to welcome the Enos Sisters with their remarkable version of "Don't Sit Under The Christmas Tree With Anyone Else but Me".

A fitting and festive end to another great Boxing Day with the Morris.
